Taxi Driver (Mr. Ben Wee)

Ben Wee is highly recommended for your driving needs in the Phnom Penh area. We have hired him for all our driving needs over at least 5 trips to Phnom Penh both for day and night time excursions. He is highly dependable, courteous, knowledgeable, and charges reasonable rates. He has recommended and made our hotel reservation, suggested restaurants for evening dining, and escorted us to tourist sites in Phnom Penh and the surrounding area. He communicates well through email to converse on our needs before our arrival. He always greets us smiling at the Phnom Penh airport upon arrival. Most importantly, Ben is an extremely safe driver.

We have enjoyed our many excursions with him outside Phnom Penh to the killing fields, many nearby Wats, local zoo, and beautiful countryside. Within Phnom Penh he has escorted us to the Palace, s-21 Prison, and heritage. Museum, major Wats, and various shopping markets. Ben is always by our side to watch for our safety. We can't wait to return to Phnom Penh and utilize his expertise again.

I had the good fortune to have Mr. Ben Wee be my driver over the period of several days. He was not only my driver but my knowledgeable guide for Cambodia in general and Cambodian language, culture, and current events as well. His excellent English certainly helped things. Not only did he take me around Phnom Penh to see the usual tourist fare but he also drove me up to Siem Reap. Along the route, he volunteered to see me some sights that he knows astound tourists, e.g. the fried spider vendors in Skun which is on the highway leading up to Siem Reap. He also got fair prices for me at restaurants. In Seim Reap itself, he proved up to the task of knowing where to go and even when to go (for example, there are places best for seeing the sunrise and sunset). He was extremely patient and very, very helpful as well as honest and reasonable in price. I would certainly recommend his services and I consider him my official driver any time I go to Cambodia.

I hope that this will be good enough for you. You may include my email.

It makes my recommendation more believable; Email: mikeledorta@yahoo.com.

We saw Mr. Ben Wee's website under the Cambodia website pages and were delighted to be able to use his services at such short notice. Because he's English so good, we were able to better understand the culture and people of Cambodia , and therefore enjoy the country we were visiting to its maximum. He took us to the more remote areas where the ruins are rarely visited. From Phnom Penh he took us to the temple at Phnom Suntok, we chose to walk the 980 steps to the top for the exercise. After a very good lunch at Kampon thon he drove us to Prei Luk, which is a lion temple lost in the jungle.

Next day it was at 6.30 a.m. start to Beng Meler, we had breakfast there at 9.30 a.m. and enjoyed visiting the carving in the rocks and waterfalls used as the location in that beautiful film ‘The two Brothers', story of two tigers. A two hours drive from there, we arrive at Kor Ker, difficult reads but Mr. Ben Wee's car managed this challenge. It was good to get a wonderful view from the top of the pyramid.

We arrived at Siem Reap by 5.30 p.m. and stayed at the Angkor Star Hotel, very good value, especially as we were offered the suite overlooking the pool at the same rate as normal rooms. Mr. Ben Wee took us around all the sites in this area for the next three days. We could have chosen a guide, but used our guide book instead.

Pklaces visited (photos available):- Angkor Thom, The Bayon Bapjuom Phineamakas Terrace of the Elephants Terrace of the leper the Roluos Group Kbal Speam River, Pheah Khan Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon. Mr. Ben Wee continued to drive ous around a large lake to the Western Side to Bantea Chmer, Sisophon, Kralanh village stone workshop we then drove to Battambang and stayed the night there. Good hotels on the opposite side of the river to the town. Next morning Mr. Ben Wee took us to Kampon Luong, the Vietnamese Floating village, most interesting to visit by boat.

On to Phnom Udong and then back to Phnom Penh . We visited the sights in Phnom Penh , the killing Fields, and School S-21 which has worse genocidal stories than the Nazis did in Europe ! Mr. Ben Wee took us to Kompot, visiting Canal 25 by boat on the way and a wonder old temple, dated 5 AD. We visited the Elephant Mountain with another tour guide in the car which could negotiate the difficult road up to the top, and were driven back to Phnom Penh again by Mr. Ben Wee. We would have no hesitation in recommending him.
